A Delectable Affair

Nearly two decades have passed since Kevin Fisher, owner of Rotisserie Affair Catering and Deli, first opened his doors to the public. During the course of those 20 years, he and his staff have been serving up delicious meals — all cooked fresh and on site (both when they cater and at their eat-in deli in Miramar) — in their signature rotisserie ovens.

Part food preparation, part serving and part entertainment, their catered food is cooked in front of their clients’ eyes in a mobile semi-convectional rotisserie oven. Because the cooking process does not involve flames like it would if they were barbecuing, fire hazards and smoke are non-existent. And the aromas that waft from the oven? They’re known for whetting even the faintest appetite.

“It’s a show,” Fisher says. “The guests love it. They get to see the meat turning [on the spit], they get to smell it and build up an appetite, and once the food’s cooked, the rotisserie itself converts into a hot buffet bar; the chef is able to carve the meat to order.”

Meat not your thing? No problem. Rotisserie Affair is a full service catering company, with many vegetarian options from which to choose. Grilled or stir-fried vegetables and a baked potato bar are just a few of their other options. More than 20 different salads can be made for any event, as can grilled salmon and mahi mahi. Rotisserie Affair also offers gluten free and organic menu items; Fisher says he and his staff will accommodate any dietary restriction. Because of the wide variety of menu options, Fisher even offers all his clients a complimentary tasting prior to any event.

“We do a great spread for [the client] at our deli location,” he explains. “They look around the room and look at pictures and [really get a feel for] what the event will be like,” he says.              “We will do everything from set up to clean up and take down at an event. Because we are self-contained, with our own generators and equipment, we are totally mobile. We can go anywhere from the backyard of someone’s house to the 42nd floor of a building, to a boat.”

Kiddush luncheons, breakfast spreads (including an omelet bar) and dessert buffets (including a chocolate fountain) are also available through rotisserie affair.

“[Although] we are not a kosher caterer, we do a number of things kosher style,” Fisher says. “We have a kosher rotisserie, and since we don’t need a kitchen at the location and can cook and serve and do everything from that oven, [we can still work within most dietary laws].”

Additionally, Rotisserie Affair can provide tables and chairs for rent for almost any size celebration. Because they own all of their own equipment, Fisher says, in many cases their services are be less expensive than other catering companies.

Their delivery service can significantly lower the cost of catered food as well.

“If people don’t want the whole shebang,” Fisher says, “we can deliver the food already prepared and ready to serve, or they can pick it up [at the deli]. However the client wants the food, we can accommodate that.”
