Jewish Community Foundation to Hold 50th Anniversary Brunch in Nov.

The Jewish Community Foundation will hold its 50th Anniversary Brunch to reflect on five decades of community building through philanthropy and innovative programs and share a vision for the future of San Diego the second Sunday in November.

The Brunch, at the Hilton La Jolla Torrey Pines, will feature speaker Carol Leifer, a comedy writer for “Seinfeld,” “Saturday Night Live” and “Modern Family.”

As a nonprofit philanthropic service provider, the Foundation helps match philanthropic passions of donors with grantee recipients from the community and around the world. The Foundation provides support in numerous ways, ranging from researching causes to advising on gift structuring and tax considerations. In addition, the Jewish Community Foundation provides educational programs on charitable opportunities and offers post-lifetime charitable planning. Donors look to the Foundation to play a critical role in ensuring the highest impact and most meaningful philanthropy is achieved.

“The leadership of the Jewish Community Foundation and the contributions made by donors over the last 50 years have added significantly to the fabric of San Diego and beyond,” said Past Board Chair Jeff Silberman. “As we reflect on the past, we want to empower our younger generations to help build a continued legacy of philanthropy and leadership.”

The Foundation is a national model for its legacy endowment building and inventive young philanthropy programs.

This year they introduced an Impact Investment Pool to donors, which allows them to give their money to good causes while also receiving a financial return on the investment. They are the first JCF in the country to offer donors such an opportunity.

During fiscal year 2016-17, the Foundation awarded and facilitated $197 million in 6,700 grants to more than 1,700 Jewish and general organizations in San Diego, Israel, and around the world. The Foundation manages over $330 million in assets and has facilitated more than $1 billion in grants since 1967. The Foundation is a national model for its legacy endowment building and youth philanthropy programs.

The Jewish Community Foundation’s Anniversary Celebration Brunch is $100 per person. It will be on Nov. 12 from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. For more information or to register, visit jcfsandiego.org.
