Thinking Shakespeare Live! 2019
Apr 6 @ 11:00 am – 12:30 pm

In this lively 90-minute program, Barry Edelstein, called by NPR “one of the country’s leading Shakespeareans,” provides audiences a unique opportunity to learn the methods he imparts to professional actors in the rehearsal room. As Edelstein and three skilled actors demonstrate these techniques live on stage, this entertaining behind-the-scenes look at the creative process offers a primer on the tools used to hear and understand Shakespeare. With humor and insight, it brings audiences into the intoxicating world of the Bard and shows how his masterful poetry can come to life for everyone.

Sun
Apr 7 @ 4:30 pm – 6:30 pm

Please join us for a stimulating evening of wine and conversation at the Timken, the “jewel box” of Balboa Park. Renowned wine expert Rod Phillips will fascinate the audience with a lively discussion about the role that wine played in the lives of the Old Masters. Then he’ll invite the audience to participate in one of the highlights of the evening: “wine tasting with the expert”, including delicious wines from the local region. Rod will pique your interest with several fascinating questions as he speculates about: What did the Old Masters drink? Did they paint still life depictions of wine and the accompanying accouterments?  Who among them was a wine connoisseur?
