Walk a Mile in Her Shoes

YWCA of San Diego County will present the 10th annual “Walk a Mile in Her Shoes®” fundraising walk. Men, alongside women and children, are invited to walk a mile in heels through downtown San Diego County to increase awareness of domestic violence in the community and help end the pervasive issue once and for all.

Art After Dark: Dia De Los Muertos

In celebration of Dia de los Muertos and Halloween, this party will feature spooky good libations, art-making activities, and musical experiences. Come in costume or just as you are, and bring a friend to get a scary good discount on tickets. This much-loved event sells out quickly—so buy tickets well in advance. Must be 21+ to attend.

“Pleasure of Your Company” concert series featuring pianist Bryan Verhoye

The fall season of the “Pleasure of Your Company” music series will open with a performance by concert pianist Bryan Verhoye on Sunday, September 9, at 2:30 PM at the Scripps Miramar Ranch Library Center.  His program will include works by Beethoven, Mendelssohn, and Rachmaninoff.

Mr. Verhoye trained at the USC School of Music, the Aspen Music School, and the Peabody Conservatory and has won first-prize awards from the International Piano Recording Competition and the Carmel Music Society, as well as multiple awards from the Musical Merit Foundation of San Diego.  His performance in Carmel of Stravinsky’s “Three Movements from Petrouchka” was broadcast on National Public Radio’s syndicated Performance Today program.  In addition to numerous appearances with the San Diego Symphony in both classical and jazz settings, Bryan is in demand as a solo recitalist, accompanist, and chamber music performer in San Diego and throughout the West Coast.  He is also a frequent adjudicator in piano competitions in San Diego and southern California.  A published composer and arranger, he is also the accompanist for the San Diego Master Chorale, Music Associate/Pianist at Point Loma Community Presbyterian Church, and Adjunct Professor of Music at Grossmont College.

Eclectic Lawn Concert

National Philanthropy Day Luncheon

The Association of Fundraising Professionals San Diego Chapter announces honorees to be recognized at the annual National Philanthropy Day® luncheon. The celebration honors the dedication, leadership, and community contributions of San Diego County’s philanthropists, volunteers, professionals, and organizations.

 This year’s event will feature keynote speaker Dennis V. Arriola, Executive Vice President and Group President of Sempra Energy. Sempra Energy is the Presenting Sponsor for this year’s National Philanthropy Day® event, with significant sponsorships from The San Diego Foundation, the San Diego Business Journal, Wells Fargo, San Diego Zoo Global, Sanford Institute of Philanthropy, Mission Federal Credit Union, and others.
