The Men’s Event

The Men’s Event is the largest annual gathering of Jewish men in San Diego. Each year brings a new dynamic and exciting speaker for a wonderful evening of great food, global change, and powerful company. The Men’s Event is generously underwritten by The Mizel Family Foundation.

with special guest Pulitzer Prize winning journalist Bret Stephens

Bret Stephens writes “Global View,” the Wall Street Journal’s foreign-affairs column, for which he won the 2013 Pulitzer Prize. He is the paper’s deputy editorial page editor and a member of its editorial board. Previously, he was editor-in-chief of The Jerusalem Post, a position he assumed in 2002 at age 28. He has reported stories from around the world and interviewed scores of world leaders, including every Israeli Prime Minister since Shimon Peres.

Mr. Stephens was raised in Mexico City and educated at the University of Chicago and the London School of Economics. His 2014 book, “America in Retreat: The New Isolationism and the Coming Global Disorder” was praised by both Fareed Zakaria and Bill O’Reilly. He lives in New York with his wife Corinna, a classical music critic for the New York Times, and their three children.

Soldier Songs

San Diego Opera’s 2016-2017 season continues on November 11, 2016 at 7 PM with the West Coast Premiere of David T. Little’s opera Soldier Songs. Soldier Songs also marks the Company’s first opera in the newly created Detour Series which explores lesser known operas and works that fall outside of the Company’s ongoing tradition of presenting grand operas at the San Diego Civic Theatre. Soldier Songs will be performed at the Balboa Theatre with additional performances on November 12 at 7 PM and November 13 at 2 PM.
