To combat food insecurity across our county, thousands of San Diegans lace up their running and walking shoes on Thanksgiving morning and head downtown for the annual Run for the Hungry 5K/10K. Proceeds from the event directly benefit Jewish Family Service of San Diego’s food assistance programs and the Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank.
Kick-off Thanksgiving Day with the Del Mar Family Mile Fun Run on the famous Del Mar Racetrack. Begin from the actual starting gate, make a one-mile lap around the track and finish in the Winners’ Circle where you will get your picture taken. Several Del Mar jockeys will be running, jogging and walking right with you! The Fun Run starts at 8 a.m., and participants are encouraged to come in costume. Proceeds benefit Helen Woodward Animal Center and their equestrian therapy program for children and adults with special needs.
Sunday, November 27, and every Sunday at Del Mar, is Free and Fun. Receive FREE Stretch Run admission, FREE program and FREE seat along with HALF PRICE Beer (domestic drafts), Bloody Marys, mimosas and Champagne splits. Reserve a table with your own personal TV at First Turn restaurant to watch your favorite Sunday Pro Football games or check them out at 17 Hands Pub or the Paddock Tavern.
Join Hazon for a 25-mile community bike ride on Sunday January 15. Meet by the Trader Joe’s at Pacific Highlands Ranch Village shopping center in Carmel Valley for an intermediate-level ride that will go through Camino Del Sur and Fairbanks Ranch area.
