Since receiving his Ph.D. in economics from Harvard University, Jason Furman has been one of America’s most influential economic advisers. He served as a member of Obama’s Presidential Transition Team in 2008, Principal Deputy Director of the National Economic Council from 2009 to 2013, and was Chair of the President’s Council of Economic Advisers from 2013-2017. He has also been a Senior Fellow at both the Brookings Institution and the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities. He has held visiting positions at various universities, including New York University’s Graduate School of Public Policy. He will be discussing the dramatic decline in male labor-force participation rates and the implications for U.S. policy.Part of the 2017 UCSD Economics Roundtable Lecture Series.

Dr. Dahlia Scheindlin is an Israeli public opinion expert and political analyst who has advised five national campaigns in Israel as well as political campaigns in over a dozen other countries. Scheindlin is a Policy Fellow at Mitvim, the Israeli Institute for Regional Foreign Policies, and a founder and author for the online journal, +972 Magazine.
